Saltmarshe Hall Wedding Photographer | Sam and Tom | East Yorkshire

Saltmarshe Hall Wedding Photographer, An elegant, relaxed and modern wedding at Saltmarshe Hall near Goole, East Yorkshire

Let’s not beat about the bush, Saltmarshe Hall is a blinkin’ lovely venue. I swear, if you didn’t know you were in Yorkshire, you could be mistaken in thinking you were in the Dordogne. The walled gardens, swimming pool and rustic, disused outbuildings could certainly make you think you had gone through some kind of black hole into another time and place. Much as I’d love to get into a conversation about parallel universes, I’ll just stick to telling the story of this wedding.

And a quick nod to my friend and fab second shooter for the day, Dan Wimble Photography.

Planning a Wedding at Saltmarshe Hall

It all started way back before the pandemic when things like having a dance floor were taken for granted. The wedding was planned, moved, changed, jiggled about, and finally landed in the format you see below. I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been for couples trying to plan a wedding in the past couple of years. But one thing I can say for sure is that when weddings finally go ahead, they are pretty epic, joyous and beautiful occasions. This one is no exception.

I first met Sam and Tom at Selwicks Bay for their engagement shoot. East Yorkshire isn’t a part of the world I’ve visited much. But I was blown away by the beauty of the coastline in this area, and would definitely love to shoot more over there. The engagement shoot was a lot of fun and it was great to get to know each other a little before the wedding.

Wedding Ceremony in the Orangery

Erm, It could be an orangery, or it could be a conservatory. Not sure about the deets. Anyway, it was totally brilliant, mostly because of all the windows (I like windows). The room was bright and vibrant, the perfect indoor space for a wedding ceremony. Prior to the ceremony, it was clear that this was going to be a brilliant day. There was such an electric atmosphere and much excitement in the build-up.

After the wedding ceremony, Sam and Tom and their crazy bunch of guests made their way down the track and through the black hole to rural France… Ahem… I mean the walled garden.

A wedding reception in the walled gardens of Saltmarshe Hall

The sun was hot (about 15 million degrees Celcius), so as you can imagine, it was a perfect day for an outdoor wedding reception. A few family formal photos plus a few less formal photos, a glass of fizz, some live music, and some cracking canapes later, it was time to head back to the house for the wedding breakfast. The tables were set in on the patio area at the back of the property, which is where the disco took place too. The party was brilliant and we were also treated to quite a nice sunset. The perfect way to end the perfect day.

So if you’re looking for a Saltmarshe Hall Wedding Photographer. Or if you’re having a pretty cool like this one somewhere else, I’d love to photograph it for you, so please get in touch!
