Somerford Hall Wedding Photography

Photos from Hannah and Jason’s beautiful Summer wedding at Somerford Hall in Staffordshire

Summerford Hall is a cracking wedding venue in the heart of the Staffordshire countryside near to Brewood. It’s an 18th Century grade 2 listed Palladian mansion. I’m not entirely sure what a Palladian mansion is but it sounds cool. Basically, it’s a blinking huge symmetrical white-fronted building with beautiful grounds and fab indoor spaces with massive windows (I like windows).

… I’ve just googled ‘Palladian’ and apparently it’s a style of architecture with symmetry and strict proportions, influenced by 16th century architect Andrea Palladio. So there you go.

Getting ready at Somerford Hall and on to the church

Hannah and her bridesmaids got ready at Somerford Hall before heading to the church. It was a beautifully sunny day and everyone was in good spirits and ready to party! I was joined on the day by fellow photographer Dan Wimble, (thanks for your help Dan!) who covered the groom’s side of things as Jason got ready at home. This is one of the main benefits of adding a second photographer to your wedding photography package.

The church was St. Cuthbert’s in Albrighton, set in a quaint countryside location and the local church to Hannah’s family. It was great to see the scene unfold as the guests spilled from the church to congratulate Hannah and Jason.

Wedding Photography at Somerford Hall

Back at the venue, the reception took place in the gardens of the venue and we had a ten-minute window to create some portraits in the afternoon. The speeches were a joy to photograph and the day was rounded off brilliantly with fireworks and dancing into the night. Fireworks are notoriously difficult to photograph as you can only really know what your exposure will be when the fireworks begin, so there’s a minute or two of frantic dial turning and flash pointing before landing on the perfect exposure and hoping that I can couple this with some interaction or reaction from the bride and groom. I got lucky here (see the photos at the end).

If you’re planning a wedding and looking for a Somerford Hall Wedding Photographer, please get in touch! Wedding planning can be a bit of a minefield but I’m here to help you along the way.
