Wedding Photography at Kew Gardens
I’m so glad that Bijal and Ossi booked me for their Kew Gardens Wedding Photography. They were such a great couple to photograph and the wedding was just beautiful from start to finish. The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew is a World Heritage Site. There are iconic historical glasshouses, modern buildings and acres of landscaped and managed grounds. So plenty of simply stunning places for photos.
Ossi and Bijal met at the Nash Conservatory for their Hindu marriage ceremony. Ossi arrived first with his family. He was greeted by Bijal’s Mother and family and escorted to the Mandap. He was concealed behind a cloth (antarpat) to symbolise their separate existence before the marriage.
There’s quite a lot more to the symbolism here and you can read more about it here. Part of the wedding is called the Saptapadi, taking of 7 steps.
With the first step, we will provide for and support each other.
With the second step, we will develop mental, physical & spiritual strength.
With the third step, we will share the worldly possessions.
With the fourth step, we will acquire knowledge, happiness and peace.
With the fifth step, we will raise strong and virtuous children.
With the sixth step, we will enjoy the fruits of all seasons.
With the seventh step, we will always remain friends and cherish each other.
Kew Gardens Wedding Photography
There’s something about being outdoors that agrees with me, so the weddings I love to shoot are usually very green and open places. You don’t come across many of these in London, but Kew Gardens has it in abundance. Although within the Mandap there was enough light in the Nash Conservatory to work with. The tree canopy above the glass helped to diffuse the light and I was allowed to move around which helped to capture more family members in a busy space.
The reception took place in the Orangery in the evening and there was enough space to use additional lighting to great effect whilst maintaining the ambience that had been created.
Congratulations to a great couple on a great wedding!
I am the sky, you are the earth. I am the thought, you are the speech. I am the fire and you are the fuel. I am the song, you are the verse;I am the ocean, you are the shore. I am the strength but you are the beauty. I am the Purush, and you are my Prakriti.
Let us lead a joyful life of a hundred years.
