I’ve been a long time fan of Wedding Photography Select so I was so pleased to pick up 4 International Excellence Awards in the last round of their competition.
Of course there are millions of photography competitions, but from a wedding photographer’s point of view it’s fairly easy to judge the level and the quality of a competition by the images themselves. Also it’s always a good sign that some of the best photographers in the world rate this competition and enter it regularly. I feel that it’s something that will inspire confidence in couples looking to book a wedding photographer.
Now, photography competitions aren’t for everyone and many photographers do extremely well without entering anything. For me, competitions provide a welcome break from editing as well as motivation and inspiration in an industry that is constantly raising the bar in terms of the standard of work. People who know me well will know that I’m a little bit competitive. But that can also translate to having a drive to be successful. This is something that not only affects the quality of my photography but also the way in which I run my business. I want to provide the best overall experience for my couples, and not just great images.
The current results put me in the top 10 list at number 5, which is something I’m very proud of. Particularly as I’m one of only two UK based photographers in the top 20.
