This frame from Natalie and Michael’s wedding at the Hillbark Hotel has to be one of my favourites from last year. I’m so pleased that it picked up an award in the last round of the Wedding Photography Select International Excellence Awards.

The wedding of Natalie and Michael took place last October at the Hillbark Hotel in Frankby, Wirral. It was one of a couple at that venue that I shot during 2018. I’ve been there a few times before. Whilst the Hillbark itself is set on acres of stunning grounds and the building itself is a sight to behold in itself, I was keen to work with good light too. I knew that, on a clear day, the light coming through the tall pine trees could be amazing. I knew roughly when the light was going to be in the right place and I had spoken to Natalie and Michael about this earlier on. Fortunately, they were keen to go with my advice and skip out of the wedding breakfast for ten minutes to take advantage of it.
