When you see the place, you’ll realize why. was quite excited to photograph a wedding at Plas Dinam Country House. But there are several ingredients needed to create a brilliant wedding. A massive, beautiful house in the Powys countryside is one of them. Add this to a bunch of awesome people freshly released from lockdown, a family that hasn’t been together for quite a while, a sunny day and a ton of emotion, and you have everything you need for a fantastic wedding.

An Outdoor Celebration at Plas Dinam

Summer isn’t always sunny in the UK, and especially in the Welsh hills! So Anna and Chris were so lucky to have a beautifully clear and bright day. This means that the wedding was able to go ahead outdoors. From a photography point of view, this is such a great thing. It meant that we could photograph the wedding in great light and move around much more inconspicuously than we could if the wedding was inside. The wedding was at the front of the building, meaning that the sun was behind the couple as they came back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony and were bombarded by bucket loads of confetti which was collected and hand-made by Chris’ mum and a whole village of volunteers.

The wedding reception spilled out into the beautiful gardens of the venue and on to the wedding breakfast, just down the valley in the stables. There weren’t any horses there, they must have been on a day out or something. Instead were rows of beautifully set and styled tables and a place for food, speeches, toasts, and dancing. There was a fire pit too, for the non-dancers to gather around.
