Rydal Church, Cumbria
As someone who has a love of the great outdoors, I was very excited to have the opportunity, once again, to partake in the outdoor pursuit that is Lake District Wedding Photography. Emma got ready for the wedding at her family home in Ambleside and travelled with her Father to the Church in Rydal. It was a beautifully clear and sunny autumn day…
Wedding Photography in Ambleside
It was great to be able to capture this wedding and include the beautiful scenery that Cumbria has to offer. It really is a stunning part of the country, especially when the weather is fine. I always enjoy lake district wedding photography because it’s often a challenge because of the weather but always worth it when I see the results. Emma and Jon travelled from the church in Rydal to Ambleside where they and the whole wedding party jumped on a boat for a cruise down to Bowness and back. They returned to the dock at Ambleside just as the sun was about to set over the mountains. From there it was a short trip up to Emma’s parents Hotel, the Salutation, at the top of the town.
Rounding off a great Lake District Wedding
After warming up in the lounge, the happy couple entered the room for the cutting of the cake and speeches, followed by the wedding breakfast. The party continued afterwards with the first dance and fireworks. It was the 5th November after all!
I enjoyed photographing this wedding for many reasons but mostly because Emma and Jon were such a great couple to photograph. Whilst the scenery is pretty spectacular, weddings are about people and celebration. There was so much love for this couple and much emotion on the day, and my priority was to capture this more than anything else. The stunning landscape in the background was just the icing on the (wedding) cake.
Thanks to Emma and Jon (Jon) for allowing me to document their wonderful wedding.
