การมีส่วนร่วมของคนในกรุงเทพฯ
Ploy and Joe had their engagement ceremony at the Peninsula Hotel in the heart of Bangkok. It’s a pretty spectacular building on the Chao Phraya river and the weather was pretty awesome too 🙂
Bangkok
I flew out to meet Ploy and Joe from Phuket, where we were staying. Having never been to Bangkok before I was completely in awe of the place, it’s size, culture and beauty. I did have a go at the language, starting with the name of the city. Bangkok, sometimes known as Krung Thep in Thailand. However the full name of the city is Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit… which was a bit tricky to pronounce never mind remember. So I just stuck with Bangkok.
The Pre Wedding Ceremony at the Peninsula Hotel
The day before the wedding I got happily lost several times and ended up getting a tuk tuk back to the hotel during rush hour. Which was quite an experience! I wanted to take a video on my phone, but couldn’t let go long enough to get it out of my pocket.
Anyway. Back to the Peninsula. This was a lovely, lovely ceremony witnessed by parents, grandparents and friends on both sides wishing the couple well for their future together. It had a happy, young and vibrant feel. It was a real pleasure to be involved and I would like to thank Ploy and Joe for bringing me to Thailand and introducing me to one of the most captivating countries I’ve ever visited.
The ceremony concluded and a select bunch of friends (and me) went up into the hills north and east of Bangkok for more celebrations. Toscana Valley is like a little piece of Tuscany that has been picked up and dropped in the hills of Thailand. It’s a very cool little place. Next time I’m going to stay longer… and drink less whisky!
