A Rainy Summer Wedding at Bartle Hall
I had a great day with Cat and Brough as their Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer. The day began at the Marriot Hotel in Preston, Lancashire, which isn’t too far of a drive, west to Bartle Hall.
It was one of those typically British summer mornings. It started off with a bit of rain to dampen the mood, then a little sunshine to give everyone a little bit of hope, then more rain for a real kick in the balls. Then it was sunny again. Then it rained but by then I didn’t really care. In fact, I find that after 15 years of shooting weddings I know that the weather doesn’t really matter. It’s the moments, atmosphere and people that really make a wedding. And this wedding had it all. From the very beginning, there was a real buzz in the air. A very happy couple (regardless of the weather) and happy people who were infected by the positivity and love shown by Catherine and Brough.
A civil marriage in the Balmoral Suite
Bartle Hall is regarded as one of the best venues in the Preston area. One reason for this is the wealth of great spaces it has to offer, inside and out. And on a rainy day, inside is preferable! The Balmoral Suite can easily hold 160 guests for a wedding ceremony and many more for a reception. It’s bright with a high ceiling and windows (had to mention that as I just love wedding venues that have windows!). The ceremony was perfect and the rest of the day followed suit. After the wedding, we made use of a few covered areas for a couple of portraits of our bride and groom but did the group photos (formals) inside with the help of a small studio flash setup.
Wedding Photography at Bartle Hall – A Photographers Perspective
I’ve been a Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer a good few times now, so I have a good idea of what’s possible at different times of the year and in different weather conditions. There are places where the sun can fall just right at a certain time of the day, and other spots that look good at dusk or after dark. For this particular wedding, I did what I could in terms of portraits during the daylight, which wasn’t much, around 10 minutes. But I had the opportunity to create something a little different after dark and before the evening do kicked off. You can see those images near the bottom of this page.
