Anyone who has photographed a wedding at the Assembly Rooms in Bath will know that It’s a wonderful place to shoot. Full of history and grandeur, situated in the Romanesque city of Bath in Somerset. You may have already seen the first part of Emmeline and Sakib’s wedding at Tatton Park. This is part 2.
An Assembly Rooms Wedding in Bath
The bulk of this wedding took place in Emmeline’s family home. It was great to see everyone again and celebrate in a different way. This was a DIY back yard wedding that Emmeline and Sakib had really put their stamp on and made sure the whole family were involved. From the decor to the cakes, to the entertainment, everyone played a part. Weddings at home have a certain vibe. A warmth, sense of family history and an intimacy and a sense of meaning that you can’t usually get from wedding venues. And in many cases, weddings are about the coming together of two families and them celebrating love, as much as it’s about 2 people having a great day. For me, there’s nothing more important than family and celebration at these events as trivial things such as table decorations pale into insignificance when compared to great memories of a wonderful time together. Not that the table decorations were rubbish, on the contrary, they were personal and lovely and in keeping with the vibe that Emmeline and Sakib had created.
An intimate and beautiful back yard wedding reception with style.
Whilst the place looked great, it was the atmosphere that really drew me in and allowed me to shoot in a way that allowed me to really capture the essence of the day. I was welcomed so warmly by both families and I was able to really cut through to telling the story of the day and get the images that Emmeline and Saki were hoping for. Images that told the true story of the wedding without fuss, posing or traditional cheesy wedding portraits.
Some feedback from E&S
Steve was fantastic – calm, aware of his surroundings, kind and considerate. We approached Steve, predominantly as we liked his documentary style of photography and flashes of creativity with his own voice. Steve was wonderful on the day, he felt very much as part of the wedding party. We were super happy with the results.
