Olivia and Ashley were married on New Years Eve in a church on a hill. This was the official part of what was a truly awesome day in the rugged and beautiful surroundings of Nidderdale in North Yorkshire.
Yorkshire Wedding Photography
The day started at Olivia’s family home which was once a farm-house where I had a quick look at the Tipi that would host the wedding breakfast and the barn which was set for the evening festivities. I was accompanied by fellow wedding photographer Spyros who I must thank for a sterling job second shooting on the day.
The Wedding
From the house we travelled north to the church in Summerbridge for the wedding ceremony. The weather was bright but cold, and rain was forecast. The wedding was a beautiful occasion and had a very dramatic and interesting sound track! (see the photos for a clue).
After the church service it was back to the house via a top-secret location for a few portraits and a little bit of time out for the newly married couple. The Yorkshire backdrop was stunning even given the time of year. And the incoming rain clouds added a bit of drama.
The Reception
The wedding breakfast took place in the tipi which was kept warm by the fire pits at each end. The speeches were a joy to photograph and I’ve never witnessed so much emotion in one tent!
The evening reception was kicked off by the band and everyone was ready to party on into the night. There was a countdown at midnight followed by fireworks which were topped off a truly incredible day with a bunch of people who really know how to have a good time.
I would like to wish Olivia and Ashley all the best and thank them from the bottom of my heart for asking me to document this truly unique wedding for them.
