Storrs Hall: The Perfect Wedding Photography Venue

As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing some incredible love stories, but there’s something truly special about a Storrs Hall wedding. Nestled right on the edge of Lake Windermere, this venue isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a character in your story. When you search for ‘Storrs Hall wedding photography,’ you’re not just looking for pictures; you’re looking for a way to bottle up the magic of this place.

A Photographer’s Dream: The Storrs Hall Vibe

From the moment you drive up the long, winding driveway, Storrs Hall exudes a sense of timeless elegance. The Grade II* listed Georgian mansion stands proudly, a testament to history and grandeur, but what I love most is how it never feels stuffy. The interior is a perfect blend of classic architecture and fresh, modern style, offering a fantastic variety of locations for photos, no matter the weather.

• The Hall and its Rotunda: The grand circular hallway with its stunning stained-glass rotunda is an absolute showstopper. When the sunlight streams through, it casts a beautiful, colourful glow that’s perfect for dramatic portraits and capturing those quiet moments between ceremonies.
• The Drawing Room: With its elegant details and huge windows overlooking the lake, the Drawing Room is a beautiful space for an intimate indoor ceremony. The light here is just incredible, soft and flattering, making every vow and every tear-filled glance look like a work of art.
• The Quirkier Corners: Don’t even get me started on the bar—it’s a traditional pub-style space with stained glass from Blackpool Tower! It’s these little surprises that make Storrs Hall so unique, providing a fun and unexpected backdrop for some playful, candid shots.

Stepping Outside: Where the Real Magic Happens

While the interior is stunning, it’s the grounds and the access to Lake Windermere that truly set Storrs Hall apart. As a photographer, this is where I can really get creative.

• The Temple of the Naval Heroes: This iconic, circular stone temple on a causeway jutting out into the lake is a must-have for any Storrs Hall wedding photography collection. It feels straight out of an Italian postcard, offering a magnificent spot for couple’s portraits with breathtaking views of the lake and fells stretching out behind you. It’s a place that feels epic and intimate all at once.
• The Garden Pavilion and Lawns: For those sunny days, an outdoor ceremony in the Garden Pavilion is a dream. You say your vows with the vast expanse of Windermere as your witness. Afterwards, the extensive lawns are perfect for mingling, confetti shots, and natural group photos.
• The Private Jetty: This is where you can truly embrace the lakeside setting. A beautiful wooden jetty provides a gorgeous spot for portraits, framed by the mountains and the water. It’s also the gateway to one of the most exciting parts of a Storrs Hall wedding…

The Unforgettable Boat Ride on Lake Windermere

This is, without a doubt, a highlight that makes a Storrs Hall wedding truly unforgettable. The venue has its own beautiful Thames Slipper Launch, the “Abigail Leah,” and arranging a private boat ride for you and your partner is an absolute game-changer for your wedding photos.

Imagine this: You’ve just said “I do.” Your guests are enjoying champagne on the lawn, and you slip away for a moment just for the two of you. You board the boat, a stunning handcrafted vessel with an integrated ice cabinet and champagne flute holders, and the skipper takes you out onto England’s largest lake. The views from the water are a different world entirely. You can get unique perspectives of the shoreline and the fells that are impossible from land.

As a photographer, capturing this is a real treat. The light on the water, the wind in your hair, the sheer joy and freedom on your faces—it all makes for some of the most romantic, authentic, and breathtaking photos of the day. It’s not just a photo op; it’s a moment of peace and celebration for just the two of you amidst the excitement, and it creates images that are pure poetry.
