Here’s a little selection of Sandburn Hall Wedding Photography from Kathryn and Tom’s Wedding at this brilliant venue on the outskirts of York.

I was introduced to Kathryn and Tom by Olivia and Jason, whos wedding (and subsequent family shoot) I had photographed a few years earlier. It was great to catch up with them at this wedding.

Wedding Photography at Sandburn Hall

Ok, I’ll be honest. I’m often a little apprehensive about weddings at golf courses (sorry golf courses). The reason being is that I occasionally become frustrated about the limits that the course put on weddings regarding where guests, and photographers, can and can’t go. It’s sometimes tricky to work around these restrictions to get the best out of the venue. However, I have to say, Sandburn Hall has done a great job of creating wonderful specific spaces for weddings, both inside and out. And I have to say, the staff and golfers seemed to be used to weddings happening and were all very accomodating. Inside the venue, there’s a huge function room with a massive floor to ceiling arched window at one end overlooking the course lakes and fairways (i might have mentioned it before but I LOVE windows!). And outside, a fantastic space has been created for outdoor weddings under a wooden pavilion in the rose garden.

Kathryn and Tom were lucky enough to have a glorious summer day for their wedding. So it was a no brainer to have the wedding ceremony outside in the rose garden. The wooden pergola provided a stunning backdrop to the scene as well as a little shade for our lovely couple. From a photography point of view, it was so great to have so much light to work with as well as room to move around without causing a distraction. After the ceremony, much of the rest of the day was spent outside and there was a brilliant atmosphere as friends and family celebrated into the night.
