Luxury London wedding photography at one of the capital’s most exclusive private members’ clubs.
There’s something wonderfully understated about a wedding at The Hurlingham Club.
No towering castle. No dramatic countryside backdrop.
Just quiet confidence.
Tucked away behind the gates in Fulham sits one of London’s most exclusive private members’ clubs. A place known for immaculate gardens, Georgian architecture and a sense of old-world elegance that feels increasingly rare in modern London.
This particular wedding began at the spectacular Peninsula London before moving across the city for a relaxed and beautifully personal celebration at The Hurlingham Club.
And it was exactly the kind of wedding I love photographing.
Less fuss.
More soul.
The morning started at The Peninsula London in Belgravia.
If you’re looking for one of the most luxurious places to get ready for your wedding in London, it’s difficult to imagine many venues doing it better.
The rooms are flooded with natural light.
The interiors are beautifully understated.
And perhaps most importantly for wedding photography, there’s space.
Lots of it.
The morning felt calm from the start.
Friends wandered in and out of rooms.
Champagne appeared.
Music played quietly in the background.
No rushing.
No stress.
Just excitement building slowly as the day edged closer.
Some of my favourite photographs from any wedding happen during these quieter moments.
Not the dress.
Not the details.
The conversations.
The nervous laughter.
The deep breath before everything changes.
The Hurlingham Club is one of those venues that surprises people.
From the outside, you’re in London.
Busy roads.
Traffic.
City life.
Then suddenly the gates open and it feels like you’ve been transported somewhere entirely different.
The club sits within 42 acres of beautifully maintained grounds, with sweeping lawns, mature trees and elegant buildings surrounded by greenery.
It feels private.
Peaceful.
Almost hidden.
And that’s part of its charm.
For couples wanting a luxury London wedding without the typical hotel ballroom feel, The Hurlingham Club offers something genuinely unique.
As a wedding photographer, there are certain venues where everything simply flows.
The Hurlingham Club is one of them.
The gardens create endless opportunities for natural photographs without needing to leave the venue.
Guests can spread out and relax.
The reception rooms feel elegant without being overwhelming.
And because the venue isn’t trying too hard, neither do the photographs.
The best wedding photographs happen when people feel comfortable.
The Hurlingham Club creates exactly that atmosphere.
One of the standout moments of the day was the drinks reception.
Guests spilled out onto the lawns.
Champagne glasses clinked.
Children ran across the grass.
Old friends reunited.
The gardens at Hurlingham are large enough that people naturally disperse rather than becoming trapped in one crowded area.
From a photography perspective, this is gold.
Real moments happen.
People forget about the camera.
The wedding starts to breathe.
One thing I always tell couples is that wedding portraits shouldn’t feel like an hour-long photoshoot.
Especially not at a venue like this.
The gardens provide so many different backdrops within a few minutes’ walk that there’s no need to disappear for ages.
We took a short wander.
Ten minutes here.
Five minutes there.
Nothing forced.
Nothing awkward.
Just enough time for the couple to enjoy a quiet moment together before returning to their guests.
The result?
Photographs that feel like them.
Not like a styled shoot.
Inside, the wedding breakfast felt warm and intimate despite the grandeur of the surroundings.
Beautiful florals.
Candlelight.
Long conversations.
Laughter bouncing around the room.
The speeches followed the meal and were genuinely one of the highlights of the day.
The kind of speeches that make people laugh one moment and wipe away tears the next.
As photographers, we’re always watching for reactions.
Not just the person speaking.
The parents.
The friends.
The partner hearing the words.
That’s where the real story lives.
One thing I loved about this wedding was that there wasn’t an evening party.
No DJ.
No dance floor.
No fireworks.
And honestly?
It didn’t need any of those things.
Not every wedding needs to end with 150 people singing Mr Brightside.
Sometimes a wedding can simply finish after speeches, hugs and one final drink in the sunshine.
There’s something wonderfully confident about couples creating a day that reflects who they are rather than following a template.
This wedding felt exactly like that.
Relaxed.
Elegant.
Personal.
If you’re planning a wedding at The Hurlingham Club, these are some of my favourite locations:
Perfect for relaxed documentary moments and larger group photographs.
Ideal for natural couple portraits with beautiful soft light.
Adds timeless architectural interest without dominating the photographs.
Perhaps the most beautiful light anywhere on the property.
Great for candid guest photographs during drinks receptions.
If you’re considering getting married at The Hurlingham Club, my biggest piece of advice is simple:
Use the venue.
Use the gardens.
Give yourself time to enjoy it.
You don’t need endless travelling between locations.
You don’t need complicated timelines.
You don’t need a three-hour photoshoot.
The venue already gives you everything you need.
Focus on your people.
Enjoy the day.
Trust that the moments will happen.
They always do.
I’ve spent the last twenty years photographing weddings for couples who care more about moments than perfection.
People who’d rather laugh than pose.
Who want photographs that feel alive.
If you’re planning a wedding at The Hurlingham Club, The Peninsula London, or anywhere else in London, I’d love to hear your plans.
Because the best weddings aren’t the most extravagant.
They’re the ones that feel unmistakably like you.
Less fuss. More soul.
