Capesthorne Hall wedding photographer Steven Rooney gives his take on a fantastic day against the background of sun, rain, and fireworks.
I’ve been looking forward to being a Capesthorne Hall Wedding Photographer for some time. It’s one of few venues that I’d be happy working at every single week and I’d never get bored. This wedding was particularly special though for many reasons.
I take bookings from couples all over the world and often don’t get a chance to meet with them until near or on the wedding day. But I always hope that the conversations that we’ve had and the work and information that I have on the website are enough for couples to know what I’m about and to have some idea of what their photographs might look like if I were to be their photographer.
I met Jess and Phil at Capesthorne Hall a couple of months before the wedding and I knew instantly that they were my kind of couple. They wanted a fun day of celebrating with their closest family and friends without a lot of fuss in terms of the photography but enough input from me to ensure that all of the important parts of the day were covered and the important people were included throughout. They had planned their day to perfection and I had ample time in between the main events to observe, take in and capture the little stories that unfolded as we went along.
Capesthorne Hall Wedding Photographer // The story
The day kicked off at Jessica’s parent’s house, then moved to Capsthorne Hall for the final preparations. I met Phil and his entourage there for some pre wedding photos. The groom is important too!
The ceremony took place in a grand room at the back of the building followed by a blessing in the chapel. Drinks, cutting of the cheese wheel cake and speeches on the staircase followed. The best man’s speech followed the meal and it was off to the other side of the building for the live music, fireworks and a couple of portraits in the rain!
Firework photography at Capesthorne
The date of the wedding coincided with the fireworks championships which are held at Capesthorne Hall each year. The rain didn’t let up bit it certainly didn’t get in the way of a spectacular show and the opportunity for me to create some spectacular images for Jess and Phil.
